Statement of the Colorado Access to Justice Commission 
in Support of the Rule of Law

Since its creation in 2003, the Colorado Access to Justice Commission has worked diligently to accomplish its mission to expand access, quality, and fairness in the justice system for all Coloradans. We envision a justice system that affords everyone an equal opportunity to solve their legal problems and protects their legal rights. Respect for the rule of law is the foundation of a functioning democracy. We must ensure that no one, regardless of their status or position, is above the law, and that everyone, regardless of their background or belief, is protected by it.

Recent national developments risk undermining the constitutional principles and respect for the rule of law that are core to achieving this vision.  In light of these developments, the Colorado Access to Justice Commission affirms its commitment to its mission and calls upon all Coloradans to stand together in support of our oaths to the Constitution, the rule of law, fair application of due process, equal protection of the law, and the independence of the judiciary.
