Greater Colorado Law Student Experience

About the Program

The Colorado Access to Justice Commission is partnering with the Colorado Lawyers Committee in re-launching the Virtual Pro-Se Clinic (VPC), providing free legal information clinics hosted by libraries across Colorado. Librarians assist library patrons in signing up for twenty-minute legal consults during clinics that occur once per month at each participating library. The goal of the program is to expand legal literacy and empower individuals with the tools they need to resolve their legal issues.

The program was first established in 2013 by the late Ric Morgan, an attorney in Elbert County who recognized a gap in legal services in his town and had knowledge of the legal deserts in other parts of rural Colorado.  Mr. Morgan sought to address this issue by setting up a virtual clinic in local public libraries across Colorado.

Following Mr. Morgan’s untimely passing earlier this year, the Colorado Access to Justice Commission and the Colorado Lawyers Committee have partnered to relaunch the VPC, led by two new Legal Facilitators, Beth Andersen and Eileen Webster. This team is committed to continuing the important service that the VPC has provided Colorado residents for eleven years, while maintaining Ric’s mission and honoring his legacy.
